Smart Choice
Product Design, UI, UX
About
Smart Choice is an application that, through the usage of image recognition technology, can help people who wish to consume sustainable and healthy products.
By using Smart Choice, the user can capture images of products and the app will show the most sustainable ones based on the user priority criteria, which can be customized.
Problem statement
Costumers, at the moment of purchase, may face difficulty identifying which products are healthy and come from sustainable sources. Frequently, the lack of free time prevents people from seeking information about products and they end up making decisions based only on the prices.
Discovery
User personas
From researches and interviews with users of Smart TV music apps and existing data about the smartphone app users, we were able to conclude that the majority of users don't have familiarity with this technology, preferring simple solutions that deliver what they seek with low effort.
Veronica Thompsom
About Veronica
Veronica is a 27 years old woman who lives in Porto Alegre. She is an Environmental Rights graduate student.
When Veronica goes shopping, she always seeks information about the origin of the products she is buying but searching it takes some time.
Veronica’s goals
-
To easily find out if the products she wants to buy are eco-friendly;
-
To be able to choose which criteria she considers relevant;
-
To save her favorite products so that she can repurchase those;
-
To receive a classification of the product based on her own criteria.
Other insights we had from the research were that, during the experience, the user doesn't interact with the content frequently. They put on playlists or stations of their favorite music genre and listen to it while making other activities. We also learned that the biggest pain point of the users was the login process, having to use the inputs of the remote control to insert email and password.
